The 2018 AWWA ACE Facility Tours included a walkthrough of the 300 MGD River Mountain Water Treatment Plant in Henderson, Nevada. Nearly 40 people attended the event, which was hosted by Rick Giltner of the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA). Leopold Filters with Type S underdrains and IMS Cap are at the heart of the process, which also includes Ozone disinfection.
It was one of the hottest days of the year so far, but fortunately XYLEM came up with a perfectly refreshing ending - an ice cream truck. Interestingly, chlorine gas was not a safety concern on this tour, but the group needed to be on the lookout for rattlesnakes!
